Mlawula game reserve is located in north-eastern swaziliand,neighbouring shewula mountain camp,which strddles the 500-meter high lubombo mountains seperating the kingdom of Swaziland and Mozambique.Mlawula is part of theconservancy, being the largest group of protected areas in Swaziland,60,000 hecters. Mlawula itself cocers an area approximately 16,500 hecters.
Mlawula lies within the transational zone Between two biogoegraphic regions,the dry thorn savannas of the west, and the moister coatal thickest of the east, and consist of three distinct ecological zones , the Ndzindza platue,the Siphiso valleyand the rhyollite ridges of the western boundary.

The camp is accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles and is in a safe and secure enviroment. Shewula falls within a malarial area so precaution through use of mosquito repellant or prophylactics is advised. for backpackers access is possible by local bus from manzini, Simunye or Lomahasha.
Choose between guided cultural trails through the surrounding community area visiting homesteads, traditional healers , local schools or challenging nature walks on an extensive trail system into the shewula nature reserve and Mbuluzi gorge.diverse birdlife and ancient hardwood vegetation are features as well as encounters with wildlife on the trail.

Beutiful grasslands iterspersed with rocky outcrops, the gorge is smaller than Ngwempisi but still dramatic. Mahamba church, the oldest in Swaziland is seen in this region. The trails and lodges are community owned and operated. the trails are focused around the gorge offering exhilarating hiking, ranging from step climb into the gorge to the less strenuous reverside hikes, and offer half-day to full-day scenic and cultural trails.

Mlilwane wild life santuary covers 4560 hectors and comprises of a southern and a nothern section. The southern section is predominantely open grasslands plains with middleveld vegetation,streching up to the rock of execution.The northern sections includes mantenga and includes one of the highest surrounding points at Luphohlo. Only guided hiking trails can enter the prestine mountains of the north.
Mlilwane embraces a combination of middleveld and highveld habitats ,including areas covered by eucalyptus(bluegum) forest. The middleveld habitats incoperate the low lying areas along the Usuthu River, while the highveld habiotats is found on the high altitude areas like the Luchoncho, Sibumbu and Lugogo montains. |

Situated within Malolotja Nature Reserve, the Trail offers an excellent opportunity to view game such as blue wildebeest, blesbok, zebra, impala, etc. Highveld grassland flora is found throughout the trail with grassland and river species on the lower slope. |
